Safety Procedures for Leaving School

The Directorate of School Education is becoming increasingly concerned by instances of estranged parents gaining illegal access to children by wandering into schools unchallenged, so the school policy is that:

   "All people visiting the school and wishing to remove their child for part or whole of the day must visit the office first and sign a register.They will be handed an authorization to present to the teacher-in-charge of the class before being able to collect their child".

Leaving School Grounds Unaccompanied.

Once within our boundaries in the morning, no child will be permitted to leave the school ground unaccompanied. Lone children wandering deserted roads are easy prey for  undesirables (see Safety House Program).

Milk-bar is out of bounds during School Hours.

• During recess and lunch-times no child is  permitted to leave the school ground to attend the milk-bar, even if notes are provided. They must be accompanied by a parent or authorized adult who first presents him/herself to the office to advise that they are taking their children.

• There is no facility provided to the proprietor to collect/distribute orders or promote trade within the school. We have an excellent canteen providing nutritious lunches at a reasonable cost three days weekly.
  

Disaster Plan

The school is equipped with a modern emergency evacuation system incorporating a two stage siren. Children practice leaving their classrooms calmly and quickly to assemble at pre determined locations. Detailed procedures are displayed in all areas of the school.

I.D Cards

Plasticized I.D. Cards for each child are filed in a central location. These cards, featuring a photograph, the School address and phone number, and the child’s phone number, are worn on school excursions.
